On the remote Isle of Jura, in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides, I documented family life shaped by isolation, freedom, and a deep connection to the natural world. A fascinating glimpse into an alternative lifestyle, one where wellbeing is rooted in land, community is small but resilient, and life unfolds at a human pace. I followed this family's daily routines, observing intimate moments of their lives. Children and dogs moved freely through this rugged landscape, part of a community held together by a single school, pub, and shop. When weather disrupted the ferry, the island slipped further from the mainland, reinforcing a sense of chosen isolation and quiet autonomy. The family embodied the spirit of this liberated existence. I felt warmly welcomed, reminded of humanity's kindest qualities, as I observed this family thriving in their secluded paradise, liberated from the constraints of modern life.
